Biography
A native of Manitoba, Canada, Tara studied acting at The William Esper Studio and the Maggie Flanigan Studio. Her movie credits include PLANE, THE GRUDGE, QUEEN OF KNIVES, THE BIG TAKE and THE KARMA CLUB. Her television credits include THE BLACKLIST, LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT, FBI, and FLEISHMAN IS IN TROUBLE, among others. Tara’s theater credits include REPRISE at Paradise Factory, BRANCHED at HERE and THE SET UP at ArcLight Theatre.
A passion for filmmaking led to her growing desire to get behind the camera, which she did for the first time when she produced the feature film DETOURS, in which she also starred. She has since produced the television pilots HIT MAN and HUDSON FALLS. Tara made her directorial debut with the short film TRIGGERED, which was at festivals like Tribeca; Woodstock, Chicago International Film Festival and many others. Triggered was nominated for a Hollywood Critics Association Award in 2023.
When not on set, Tara reads to public school kids in NYC, through SAG-AFTRA’s BookPALS program. Due to the pandemic and students working remotely, she started an online program called LET’S ALL READ. Let's All Read was a great opportunity for children to be able to continue their love of literature and reading, by having a book read to them, It gave parents and caregivers a moment to take a much needed break. Tara was joined by actor friends: John Leguizamo, Jessica Hecht, Griffin Dunne, Nicholas Pinnock, Diana Maria Riva, Richard Kind, Lyne Renée, Abigail Hawk, Dean Winters, Kristy Munden, William Abadie, Kim Director, Dana Melanie, and Lukas Hassel.
